April 24

I'm so excited for today! My best friend is preforming her senior recital later on today and then she will be done with college! She is so talented, her fingers do amazing things to pianos.
Then later on we are going to watch my little brother in a musical at his school, but first I get to go spend some time with my mother in law. Mom J is one of my favorite people she is so sweet.
So a lot of driving is happening today. Hopefully I will make a big dent in my coral rug. I wonder how many people crochet in the car. Don't worry I'm not driving =)

I just got married about 9 months ago and since then my family has moved an hour away and DH and I changed churches.
Almost all of my friends went to the church we were married in and although I am making new friends at our new church its still depressing to feel like I'm leaving behind a ton of friends that I've known my whole life. I am in a different stage of life then most of them so its 'understandable' that we would fall apart. It still hurts though.
Having my family so far away sucks too.

On a lighter note Ive been slowly working through my list of half finished items. The baby blanket that I've been working on since January is finally finished. I sure hope that kid doesn't come out huge because the blanket is a little small but newborns are small normally right? =)
The grey newsboy hat is finished and was a great success at the nursing home. The residents there LOVE when I wear hats. No matter what they look like, most likely because its something different they see a lot of the same things there.

Rainy days off

I work midnights at a nursing home so my 'days' off are really nights off so I have to sit quietly and try not to wake up my DH Needless to say lots of crochet gets done and many movies are watched.

My newest long term project is Sudden Whimsies Coral Rug. Its going to take a while to finish but its so much fun. I'm using red heart super saver pink and white. I was trying to get rid of some of my Red Heart yarn and this seems like a perfect way to do so. This pattern is so easy and I love the product. It's a little too girlie to go into our blue and green bathroom but I'm sure my little sister will love it =)

I'm also working on another newsboy hat from the Red Heart free e-book. I used the recommended yarn before and it turned out really great but i wanted something lighter for summer so I am trying it with Caron Simply Soft in Grey Heather. I love the color and can't wait until its finished.
My latest project has been this star rug VERY loosely taken from this pattern

It is probably going to go onto the table to hold hot dishes, I just can't take the thought of someone standing on it!
I made my little sister a hat. It was a little too small but she loved it.

The world of blogging

I have been so enamored by the wonderful world of blogging. I am an avid crocheter and my favorite patterns seem to come from bloggers that offer their patterns and a little piece of their lives that just seems to make the project so much fun.
I made a pledge to not cover my house in (too much) yarn. I try to keep the things I make fresh and modern, I'm pretty new to crochet so I haven't designed too many things my self but I'm learning.
